For workers that are involved with working aloft, either from an aerial lift (bucket truck) or pole.

COURSE OUTLINE

Our Pole Top/Bucket Truck Rescue course is comprised of a theory portion and practical training.

  3. CLIMBING TECHNIQUES

    • Climber Sharpening Techniques​

    • Climbing Ergonomics

    • Climbing Techniques

    • Climbing Equipment

    • Steel and Wood Poles

    • Testing of Pole Stability
       

  4. ROPES / KNOTS

    • Review of Types of Ropes/Knots​

    • Strengths of Ropes

    • Calculating Safe Work Loads

    • Practice Tying Basic/Common Knots
       

  5. ELECTRICAL SAFETY AWARENESS

    • Identifying Energized​ Lines & Equipment

    • Review Worker Limits of Approach Requirements

    • Distance Measuring Techniques/Equipment

    • Use of Aerial Equipment

PRACTICAL:

  • Assess Worksite for Hazards

  • Inspect Climbing Gear

  • Review of Climbing Techniques

  • Review Pole Top Rescue Procedures

  • Practice Climbing Pole Top Using Different Techniques

  • Practice Knots/Ropes

  • Scenario-based Rescue Exercises

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Duration: 2 Days

Course Cost: $2200.00 + GST per day

Prerequisite: none

PPE Required: Each participant must have their own climbing gear, with a fall restrict belt for min. 10 feet. They must also have:

  • Hard hat

  • Long sleeve shirt

  • Gloves

  • Steel-toed work boots (suitable for pole climbing, if practicing pole top rescue)

Location: Training site to be provided by the client and be equipped with suitable poles or bucket truck for practical.
