CHAINSAW SAFETY

COURSE OUTLINE

Our Chainsaw Safety course is a 2-day program comprised of a theory and practical portion.

THEORY:
 

  1. BEFORE YOU START

    • Job Site Planning

    • Chainsaw Hazards & Risks

    • Incident Reviews
       

  2. WORKING SAFELY

    • Personal Protective Equipment (WorkSafeBC)
       

  3. CHAINSAW - SAFE WORK PROCEDURES

    • Identify parts of the chainsaw 

    • Safe Work Procedures for handling chainsaws

    • Basic Chainsaw Maintenance, Cleaning, & Sharpening

    • Chainsaw Transportation & Storage
       

  4. BASIC CHAINSAW CUTS

    • Limbing / Bucking Procedures

PRACTICAL:​

​

  • Put On Personal Protective Equipment

  • Equipment Inspection

  • Starting the Chainsaw

  • Refueling

  • Basic Maintenance, Cleaning, & Sharpening

  • Instructor Demo of Basic Cuts

  • Bucking / Limbing Procedures

  • Clear Work Area

  • Access Egress Routes (Hazard Identification)

  • Students Practice / Demonstrate Basic Cuts

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Duration: 2 Days

Course Cost: $2200.00 + GST per day

Prerequisite: none

PPE Required: Each participant must have the following PPE for the practical portion of the training:

  • Hard hat w/ face shield

  • Gloves

  • Safety glasses w/ side shield

  • Close-fitting long sleeved shirt and WorkSafeBC approved leg protection (chaps, etc.)

  • WorkSafeBC approved work boots 

  • Appropriate hearing protection for protection above 85dB

Location requirement: The client must provide a training site, with suitable wood/scraps for cutting practice. Client to provide saws, if applicable.
